I'm making a spreadsheet of all the books that were in that "lost in transit" package that I may or may not receive from Japan (please Jesus, I don't know if you agree with BL, but I'd totally love that package back. *wibbly eyes*). This list doesn't include anything that I didn't take to Japan, and it's not complete (damn you DMP for having a monster list of BL manga and novels!), but it only excludes DMP. So far I am missing: eight series, 46 individual books, and about $505 in book costs. Not to mention the $100 shipping fee. And DMP is gonna murder me, as I know I owned nearly every novel they released. However, I had to stop making my list when I came to them because I did receive a SAL shipment, and I'm praying that some of my favorite novel titles are in there (I have no idea what I packed where, as that whole moving period feels like a blur).

Still, sadness! ;__; I estimate the total loss to be around $700 when I finish tallying everything. I had no idea I spent that much on manga! It's a crazy thought, made even crazier because this is just the BL manga list. I that if I start making a list of all the regular books, I'll burst into tears. I guess this is a very valuable (as in expensive) lesson; next time I ship ANYTHING, my name and address will be plastered in fifty million places on that box, inside and out. People will talk about the insane girl whose address is posted inside regular $0.44 letters, but at least I know it'll get there!

Plus, my favorite blue sweater was in that package for padding. Double sadness! Jesus help me!

Ugh, that sucks! I noticed when I was packing my stuff that I had quite a few of your BL novels. So if you're missing any of those, just wait and let me check. Of course they are also being sent sea mail so it may be awhile. XD Hopefully, the boxes will get here before Christmas and then I can just send them to you when I go home. And don't give up on your missing box yet. It could just be delayed somewhere. I have a feeling it will turn up eventually.

I'm praying Dad, I really am. I'm not completely forlorn, but if I don't hear anything near Christmas (and if I have the money), I think I'll try to find some deals to replace everything. The $700 estimate was based on the wholesale price, and maybe I can find some deeply discounted stuff on [ profile] garagesalejapan or YaoiClub.

I need a job so I can come over there! I really miss you and Mom.

We miss you, too!! ♥ Come visit us! You can get Mom to cook for you so it will be really cheap. XD

I was going to suggest trying to get some of the books secondhand if your box doesn't turn up. You might check used bookstores, too. Some of the ones in Louisville have a really big manga section, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same in Atlanta. I've picked up some yaoi ones there for really cheap.

*hugs you* I hope they are just VERY LATE rather than lost.

The shipping label was peeled/pulled off in transit, so right now, it's lost. I'm hoping it made it to Atlanta, just because there won't be too many 21kg packages from Japan in the missing package center. I don't care if they go into it, because all the books in there (well, most of them) are English translations, so there's nothing illegal about them. The doujinshi package, which might have been pushing it, has already arrived.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed though!

Oh sweetie. Thats horrible! I would be so sad to lose so many books. I do hope they show up eventually. At least it shoule be easy for you to identify the stuff in the box if it soes turn out to be in the lost and found. Hopefully they don't send it back to Japan.

I hope it turns up. *crosses fingers*

Haha, could you imagine giving a list like that to the postman? I mean, I do have it all methodically listed out in a spreadsheet, so it would be very easy to understand, but I pity the poor fella who would have to go through that book pile! All the covers have pretty boys in...interesting positions on them. Fun times!

It hurts that I might have lost those books. There were also Japanese manga in that box, but I know I didn't have too much of that, and they were all just the Japanese versions of my favorite scanlated stuff. I can live without them. I think some of my Phoenix Wright doujinshi was in there too (the smaller ones), which will be harder to replace, but it's really the English manga I'm concerned about. That makes up the bulk of everything. Even the English books I had (and loved) weren't so expensive! I'm sure I could replace all of them for $50-$60, and I wouldn't need to do it right away because I can get them from the library. And of course I'm surprised at the $630-ish price tag, because I really didn't think I had nearly 60 BL manga. It's totally not insured for that much (I placed the value at $200 in my rush), which just makes matters worse.

At least I know what I lost. I can slowly build that back up over time if I need to. It's just that the blow is pretty harsh when you lose everything at once...
