Totally agree with your sentiments here <3 Friends should always transcend fandoms, and I'd rather keep them around even if they're just slightly off center or in the background, because who knows when you'll find yourselves coming back together? At least then you'll already know that the person is awesome and great for fangirling with when you find yourselves in the same fandom boat again, and it sure saves time when it comes to finding people to chat with and discuss fic about :D
