I'm in Aichi-ken, placed at the prefectural level, so apparently where I'll be living and teaching hasn't been determined. But I'm back in Aichi, where Nagoya is. This is good, right? Maybe? Please Jesus, let this be good...

Let's just hope I'm in urban Aichi and not rural Aichi. ^^;; Oh, but the host family will be sure happy about this!

That's not bad at all! You've got Nagoya, and you're not miles away from Tokyo on one side and Osaka on the other. It's actually a pretty awesome central location! And it's got Inuyama, which I seem to remember one of my students telling me was a good place to visit.

All in all - Congratulations! XD I think you were pretty lucky with this placement!

Actually, being close to both Tokyo and Osaka are great, because I can get to either place for only 3000Y each way, so weekend trips are definitely doable! And I am CERTAINLY going to the Inuyama penis festival next year. I missed it twice in a row, but I won't miss it again!

And you're teaching high school!! EXCELLENT!

You know, I'm one of the crazy ones that asked for elementary. ^^;;

Is teaching high school better? Give me some details!! How long do I have to wait until I hear where I'll be living?

Well, I learned where I was going to be as soon as I learned the prefecture--but that's cause I'm a Jr. High ALT and was hired by a city Board of Education. So...I dunno XD;;;

In my opinion, high school >>>>> Elementary school >>>>>>>>>>>>> Jr. High XD Education's only compulsory up to middle school, so if you're at the high school level, the students at least KIND OF want to be there and learn. Whereas at my school there more likely to just walk out of class if they're bored. Which they do often.

With HS, at least you'll feel like you're making a difference. Plus the kids are closer to your age, so you might be able to relate to them more, and they'll love that. I'd actually probably have given more than a passing thought to recontracting if I'd been a HS ALT :D

Hmmm...is that so? Well, either way, I'll make it. I do like it more if the students want to be there, so maybe that's a plus? I'm just anxious about being hired by the prefecture and not by a BoE, because I don't know what that means, nor where I'll be living. JET is such a waiting game, and it makes me crazy!

As for elementary, I just like how kids still fear your adult authority. That and you can toss them around and do silly things like singing songs and dressing up for Halloween. But like I said, I'll make it. And Tokyo isn't far from Aichi, so I'll be able to come up fairly often! XD

Wooooo! Hey, you're not in the middle of nowhere, this is good!

I'm hoping I'm not in the middle of nowhere! But Aichi has a lot of developed places, so I pray I'll be good. And at least I'm not in Gifu, which is the middle of nowhere. If I'm close to Nagoya, I have most of the comforts of Tokyo, but less people. XD

Woohoo, Aichi! Fingers crossed for Nagoya!

DEAR GOD YES! Or even Toyoake, where my host family is. That's what I requested, but it's 15 minutes outside of Nagoya. IF GOD WOULD BE SO GOOD TO ME!!!

You haven't moved yet? ^^

I have moved! I moved today, actually - but my stuff isn't coming until Sunday, so it's just me, the cats, and an airbed.

Oh, you're stealing the internet then? Haha, good job!

You know, today I thought, "I wonder if I should visit Chicago before I head out?" I'm still wondering that...

Not very often, though there were four people out of the 55 listed from Atlanta that were placed in either Sendai, Kobe, or Osaka. That's about 8%, which I guess really is low, huh? Maybe I should have requested Nagoya-shi after all...either way, at least I'm in Aichi, and I'm in the same prefecture as my host family and my friends from school. And since Japanese prefectures aren't nearly as big as most American states, I'm not worried that I won't be able to see them. It's not Tokyo, but Tokyo is far to busy and bustling for me anyway. XD Nagoya is much more down to earth, even though it is still a big place.

Awesome! Sounds like you'll be near Nagoya at least. And doesn't being prefectural mean you'll be teaching high school? That could have some advantages - ie no board of education.

I expect to see you in Tokyo a lot!!

Well, I doubt I'll be coming up every weekend because I totally don't want to pay rent on my place and yours, but I figure I'll be up often. Depending on what the school wants to do, maybe I can cat-sit during the Comiket weekend. We'll have to work out the details before you head out to England.

And BoEs are bad? I've heard people complaining about them, but doesn't working for the prefecture mean I have to deal with CIRs and really high official people? Though [livejournal.com profile] fencer_x says teaching high school means that people actually want to learn English, so maybe that's a good thing too. XD
